The wall-penetrating bushing is also called a wall-penetrating pipe, a waterproof bushing, or a pre-buried pipe in the wall. The waterproof bushing is divided into a rigid waterproof bushing and a flexible waterproof bushing. In the power field, the one used for conducting electricity is called an AC wall-penetrating bushing. From the perspective of materials, it can be divided into a dry capacitive AC wall-penetrating bushing and a porcelain-insulated AC wall-penetrating bushing, abbreviated as silicone rubber bushing and porcelain bushing respectively. 
The high-voltage wall-penetrating bushing is suitable for use in power distribution devices and high-voltage electrical appliances of power plants and substations with a power frequency AC voltage of 35 kV and below, serving as insulation and support for the conductive part passing through the wall or other grounding objects. The bushing is suitable for an ambient temperature of -40 to +40°C and is not applicable under conditions sufficient to reduce the performance of the bushing and when the surface of the indoor part of the bushing has condensation. When the ambient temperature of the bushing is higher than +40°C but not exceeding +60°C, it is recommended that the working current of the bushing be reduced by 1.8% of the rated current load for each 1°C increase in the ambient temperature. When the bushing is used at an ambient temperature lower than -40°C and in accordance with the maximum allowable heating temperature specified in Article 5.1 of GB 12944.1, it is allowed to have a long-term overload of the working current. It is recommended that the rated current load increase by 0.5% for each 1°C decrease in the ambient temperature, but the increase value should not exceed 20% of the rated current.
The bushing can be divided into five types according to the place of use: indoor ordinary type, outdoor-indoor ordinary type, outdoor-indoor pollution-resistant type, outdoor-indoor plateau type, and outdoor-indoor plateau pollution-resistant type.
The indoor ordinary type is generally suitable for indoor areas where the installation location has an altitude of no more than 1000m. The outdoor-indoor ordinary type is generally suitable for areas where the installation location has an altitude of no more than 1000m, but the installation location should be an area without obvious pollution.
The outdoor-indoor pollution-resistant type is suitable for an installation location with an altitude of no more than 1000m. For 35 kV bushings in severe and extremely severe pollution areas, 63 kV oil-paper capacitive wall-penetrating bushings can be selected.
The outdoor-indoor plateau type is suitable for areas with an installation location at an altitude of less than 3000m.
The outdoor-indoor plateau pollution-resistant type is suitable for polluted areas with an installation location at an altitude of less than 3000m. The bushing can also be divided into three types according to the conductor material used: aluminum conductor, copper conductor, and without conductor (busbar type).
